We left Phayao yesterday and took a 3-hour bus to Chiang Khong at the northeast border of Thailand. We crossed the border via the “friendship bridge” to Huay Xai, Laos. We hung out in Huay Xai last night; today, we’ll board one of these slow boats for a 2-day journey on the Mekong River to Luang Prabang. Hoping for a cool breeze, clean bathrooms, pleasant boat travelers and the chance to see a giant Mekong catfish. #slowboattoluangprabang #laos #huayxai #mekongriver
